Myofascial & Trigger Point Therapy

A high percentage of inexplicable muscular pain, joint discomfort, postural deviations and muscle weakness are the result of myofascial trigger points (TP’s) and intermuscular myofascial adhesions (IMA’s). TP’s and IMA’s will lead to a wide variety of ailments; including muscular weakness & loss of flexibility causing sciatica, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel syndrome, low back, knee, pelvic, hip and shoulder pain. Other ailments including migraines, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), TMJD, angina, lack of sex drive & painful intercourse all can be relieved via treatment.

What is Trigger Point and Myofascial Bodywork? Each muscle is covered by several layers of fascia. Fascia connects several muscles, creating continuous tension and linked muscular contractions along the chain or sling of muscles. When trigger points and dense adhesions do not exist, the fascia is free to move in multiple directions. However due to dietary deficiencies, hormonal changes, emotional stress, repetitive task, overuse, strain/ injury or heavy loading (i.e. bodybuilding) knots or adhesions form within the fascia and between the muscles. Myofascial massage and Trigger Point therapies both affect change to the fascia which lies atop of and connects trains / slings of connected muscles. Both self (foam roller & small balls) and professionally administered techniques are aimed at removing knots / taut bands (i.e. trigger points) and adhesions that are often found within several fascial layers.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

A unique, complete and complementary system of table-based, assisted stretching, focusing on the fascia as the key element in achieving optimal flexibility, strength, performance and pain relief. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds & invests all structures of the body. The problem is the fascia will thicken & shorten when any of your tissues are under stress from poor posture, lack of exercise, injury, surgery, disease or over-training. While many therapies can help these conditions, only FST can completely treat inflexible fascia at the deepest level - your joint capsule. After we help make all of your layers of fascia become more pliable and hydrated, then joint range of motion, muscular strength & flexibility immediately improves making it easier for you to train & maintain.
